Course sample · About 5 minutes
Your first useful ChatGPT draft.
A supplier sends a proposal. You want to decline politely, without promising future business. Let’s write the reply, then check it.
A short exercise adapted from Lesson 1.1. No course signup needed.
1. Give a clear brief.
“Write an email saying no” leaves too much to guess. Give ChatGPT the decision, the reason, and the limits. A prompt is simply that request.
Draft a polite decline
1. Make it yours
Fill in the fields using a fictional or approved example. Your words appear in the prompt below.
For your privacy, avoid entering sensitive personal data. Use general examples when practicing.
2. Copy to ChatGPT
Read the prompt, copy it, then paste it into ChatGPT. Come back here to check your result.
Copying does not send anything. You choose what to paste and send.
Keep the example or change the project. Select Copy Prompt, open ChatGPT, and paste it into a new chat. This is practice, not an email to send.

You can read the example below without a ChatGPT account. Any ChatGPT subscription is separate from the course.
2. Check the draft.
Here is one possible result for the booking-system example. Your answer may differ.
Example email · Fictional names
Subject: Thank you for your proposal
Hi Alex,
Thank you for sharing your proposal. Our team is focused on updating our booking system, so we’ve decided not to move forward with the service.
We appreciate your time.
Best,
Sam
Would you send it?
- The reason is accurate. It uses the project you supplied, not an invented budget problem.
- No unwanted promises. It adds no meeting or future purchase.
- The tone fits.Check the names and wording before using any draft.
Too stiff? Ask: “Make it warmer and more direct. Keep the same facts and limits.” Then check again. ChatGPT drafts; you decide what goes out.
3. Try it yourself.
A customer wants an update
A fictional order will ship Thursday, not today. You do not know when it will arrive. Write your own request for a short customer reply in ChatGPT.
Before opening the answer below, check: did the draft invent an excuse or promise a delivery date?
Compare with a checked example
“Hi Alex, your order is scheduled to ship Thursday. We don’t yet have a confirmed arrival date. Thank you for your patience.”
Why it works: Thursday is the shipping date, not the delivery date. There is no invented excuse. If yours says “It will arrive Friday,” ask ChatGPT to remove that unsupported promise.
The habit to keep: give a clear brief, check the answer, then decide what to use.
Put the same method to work.
Practice writing, research, decisions, and everyday business tasks. The full course includes guided exercises, a prompt notebook, printable materials, and an earned certificate of completion.
